Transfer Scholarships

Athens State University

Athens State University is thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for students planning to major in STEM programs - The ASSIST Scholarship Program.

Through ASSIST, students could receive scholarships for tuition, books, housing, or transportation. In addition, ASSIST will also provide various additional methods of support and resources to help STEM majors succeed.

 

Jacksonville State University

Beginning in Fall 2025, Jacksonville State University is proud to announce our Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship available to one (1) student at each of our ACCS partner institutions. This is a competitive, full-tuition scholarship available to an outstanding student nominated by your college's administration. We are excited to add this scholarship to our expansive list of transfer scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year!

The requirements of Jax State's Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship are as follows:
  • 3.5 transfer GPA (calculated by Jax State)
  • 45+ transferable hours earned at an ACCS institution (calculated by Jax State)
  • Be classified at Jax State as a First-Time Transfer student for admission and scholarship purposes. This means that a student cannot have previously attended Jax State as a degree-seeking student. Students who previously enrolled at Jax State only as a dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment (Transfer Prep), or non-degree/transient student may be considered.
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing at the community college and at Jax State, if such history exists.
  • Have demonstrated ability to balance academic achievement with at least one of the following areas: campus involvement, community involvement/volunteerism, family responsibilities, scholarly achievements, or work/professional responsibilities.
  • Commitment to serve as a Transfer Student Mentor (TSM) during the first year at Jacksonville State. Transfer Student Mentors will serve as a recruitment and enrollment resource to prospective transfer students from their former community college upon their enrollment at Jax State. In the second year, recipients may either continue as a TSM or choose another campus group to continue their involvement.

The University of Alabama (UA)

The University of Alabama is providing a Presidential Scholarship to an outstanding student transferring to UA from Lawson State Community College. This UA Presidential Scholarship covers the cost of in-state tuition for four semesters, provided the student adheres to their stewardship requirements. The current value of this scholarship will adjust as the cost of tuition increases. 

In order to apply, the student must meet the following criteria:
  1. The student must have earned and graduated with an associate degree from Lawson State Community College before entering UA for the fall of 2026.
  2. The student must have maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and have 45 hours of completed coursework.
  3. The student must be admitted and submit a transfer scholarship application to UA by March 3
  4. The student cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UA or any other 4-year institution. 
Deadline: The UA Presidential Transfer Scholarship Application packet must be emailed to Ms. Haley at ahaley@lawsonstate.edu by the close of business on TBD.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)

The scholarship will provide $6,000 per semester for four semesters (fall and spring only; $12,000 per academic year) and is renewable annually for two years provided that the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA.
The following areas will be considered when selecting the nominees: professionalism, communication skills, passion & enthusiasm, and the desire to help other students,  as recipients may be asked to participate in campus events to serve as a transfer representative for UAB,.  Event examples include: student panels, campus tours, community college visits, Transfer Day at UAB.

To qualify, the students must meet the following criteria:
  1. The student must apply and be admitted as a transfer student to UAB for the upcoming fall term by February 18.  High school students who are enrolled in a fast-track or dual-enrollment program are not elibible.
  2. The student must have earned a minimum of 45 transferable credit hours by the February 18 deadline.  An official transcript must be provided to UAB showing fall grades
  3. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (non-transferrable coursework will not be calculated in the GPA).
  4. The student cannot have any 4-year institution credit (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school).
  5. The student cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UAB.
  6. Student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to receive this award.
  7. Please submit your UAB Presidential Scholarship Application packet to Ms. Haley via email at ahaley@lawsonstate.edu, requesting consideration for the award. LSCC Transcript (unoffial is acceptable). Two letters of reference. Resume-to include activies, community serive, work experience, honors and awards.

Troy University

Troy University is proud to offer and award the Transfer Presidential Scholarship to the most commendable transfer students from the Alabama Community College System. This scholarship will allow each community college president in the state of Alabama to select one student to receive a $12,000 per academic year tuition-only scholarship for two years, excluding summer. This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University.

In order to apply, the student must meet the following criteria:
  1. Each student must be an Alabama resident
  2. Have completed at least 45 transferable credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.5
  3. The student must maintain full-time enrollment status and an institutional (TROY) GPA of 3.0.
