Montgomery, AL. - Students who missed last week's Free Application Week can still apply to college free of charge at their local community college. The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) colleges, as a matter of policy, do not charge an application fee. Additionally, as part of their open-enrollment approach, community colleges have removed other barriers to higher education, including ACT score requirements and college essays.
Lawson State Community College and other Alabama community colleges welcome students with simple, accessible enrollment processes with the belief that everyone is college material.
By meeting prospective students where they are, community colleges serve high school students and recent graduates, working adults, career changers, and individuals seeking workforce certifications, or transfer opportunities to four-year universities, with flexible start dates, affordable tuition, online and in-person classes.
In addition to free applications, eligible students may qualify for financial support through Federal Pell Grants, state aid programs, institutional scholarships, and workforce grants. Financial aid advisors are available to guide students through the process and help maximize available funding.
