Lawson State Community College recently welcomed Amanda Slay, a dedicated music educator,
conductor, and arts leader with more than 15 years of experience in choral music education,
to the college. She holds a Master of Music Education in Choral/Vocal Music from Florida
State University and a Bachelor of Choral Music Education from the University of Montevallo,
with additional doctoral coursework completed at Boston University.
Throughout her career, Ms. Slay has built award-winning choral programs. She previously served as Associate Choir Director and Performing Arts Department Chair at Hoover High School and is recognized for her expertise in vocal pedagogy, ensemble performance, arts administration, and student leadership.
In addition to her work in the classroom, she has presented at state music education conferences, contributed to curriculum development, and published articles on music education and choral leadership.
Ms. Slay currently serves as Vice President of the Alabama Vocal Association and is an active leader in the American Choral Directors Association. She is passionate about creating meaningful musical experiences that inspire artistic excellence, foster community, and empower students to reach their highest potential.
