Lawson State to Offer Free AI Hands-On Experience

Free, Hands-On AI Learning Comes to Lawson State

Lawson State Community College is offering two free 90-minute AI learning sessions this September at its Bessemer and Birmingham campuses.

Participants can attend the first session on September 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Ethel Hall Auditorium on the Bessemer campus, located at 1100 9th Avenue SW, Bessemer, AL 35022. The second session will take place on September 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Alabama Center for Advanced Technology and Training (ACATT) Building (Building R) on the Birmingham campus at 3060 Wilson Road SW, Birmingham, AL 35221.

These sessions are open to the public, and no prior technical experience is needed to participate. Through interactive activities and guided instruction, participants will learn the basics of artificial intelligence, explore how AI is being used in everyday life and work, and gain a better understanding of this rapidly evolving technology.

During the workshop, attendees will:

• Build confidence using real-world AI tools.
• Explore practical and creative applications of AI technology.
• Learn about privacy considerations and responsible AI use.
• Discover additional AI concepts, resources, and opportunities for continued learning.

Attendees will gain hands-on experience while exploring the growing role artificial intelligence plays in education, the workplace, and daily life.
