Lawson State's GM ASEP Honors Graduating Class

(Bessemer, AL) May 8, 2025 - The General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) at Lawson State Community College proudly celebrated the graduation of Class #40 during a special banquet on May 8. The event honored nine outstanding students who completed the rigorous training program, combining advanced automotive instruction with hands-on dealership experience.

"The ASEP program continues to strengthen the pipeline of well-trained, highly skilled GM automotive technicians, and the Class #40 banquet highlighted the exceptional achievements of this cohort," said Matthew Webb, the college's GM ASEP instructor. "As the graduates move forward in their careers, they represent the high standards of both Lawson State Community College and the General Motors network."

  • Christian Rylee Lawrence
  • Caleb W. Ramsey
  • Miguel A. Salgado
  • Benjamin H. Terry
  • Eduardo Villa Perrusquia
  • Andrew S. Whitmire

Two graduates stood out for achieving ASE Master Technician certification: Caleb W. Ramseyand Andrew S. Whitmire, the latter also receiving the prestigious ASEP Leadership Award in recognition of his excellence in both technical skill and leadership throughout the program.

The celebration was marked by the presence of General Motors corporate representatives, including John Bartnick, Regional Training Manager, and Mike Easter, District Manager of Parts and Service for North Alabama and Tennessee Chevrolet dealerships.

In addition to GM officials, several sponsoring dealerships that supported students through mentorship and internships were in attendance, including:

  • Sam Boswell Buick GMC (Enterprise)
  • Devan Lowe Buick/GMC/Cadillac (Rainbow City)

Local high school automotive instructors joined the evening in support of the next generation of technicians. Representatives came from the Shelby County Career Technical Education Center and Eden Career Technical Center.
