Brandi Patterson GED success story

Brandi's Breakthrough: From Job Loss to Career Reboot with Lawson State

For 12 years, Brandi Patterson thrived in the fast-paced world of automotive manufacturing, rising to the role of supervisor through hard work and dedication. But when an unexpected layoff forced her to pause, she faced a harsh reality: without a high school diploma or GED, even her years of experience couldn't open the same doors.

Instead of letting setbacks define her, Brandi chose to rewrite her story.

She reached out to Lawson State Community College's Adult Education Program - and in just two weeks, she conquered her GED with unstoppable determination.

Now, with her diploma in hand, Brandi is steering her future in a bold new direction: Pharmacy Tech. "There's no time like the present to start fresh," she said. "This isn't just a certificate - it's my ticket to a career where I can keep helping people, just in a different way."

In fact, she recently registered through the Alabama Board of Pharmacy and has received an internship.

All the while, GED instructor Don Nelson encouraged Brandi to stay focused on her goal.

"Her dedication and commitment truly stood out," he said. "Brandi chose to rise above adversity and take steps toward a brighter future. We are incredibly proud of the way she embraced this journey."
