"Don't Drop It on Alabama" Encourages Care for the Environment
Lawson State Community College renewed its commitment to protecting the environment
during "Don't Drop It on Alabama," the month-long spring cleanup campaign taking place
statewide. Coordinated by
Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State), the initiative engages all 67 counties and over 140 municipalities and volunteer
groups. The effort is part of an ongoing partnership with the Alabama Community College
System.
Lawson State's
Adult Education Department with the full support of LSCC President Dr. Cynthia Anthony and Adult Education Director
Charlette White, brought volunteers together for its Birmingham campus cleanup event
on April 25.
This marks the second year Lawson's Adult Education program took the lead on the college's
participation. Some 80 student-athletes helped make it a success.
"It is our shared responsibility to preserve the beauty of our state by keeping it
litter-free," said Ms. White. "Together, we can make a lasting impact on the care of our environment." She was joined by campus leaders Ricky Lee, adult education career coach, and Dr.
Eric Agee, Lawson State athletics director.
