Our Computer Science Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree is a two-year degree that is 65 credits. This degree is designed for entrance into the workforce upon graduation.
Our Associate and Science (AS) two-year degrees range from 60 to 64 transferable credits. The AS degree is designed for transfer. That means that once you graduate from Lawson State, you will be able to enter your four-year college of choice as a junior and secure a 4-year degree.

The Computer Science - Business Program is designed for students with an interest in computer science and its application in business. With the current trends to outsourcing and contracting for the provision of computing resources in business, it is imperative that computing practitioners have a strong grounding in business and business practices. These practitioners need entrepreneurial skills as they will often have to establish themselves as independent consultants and compete for contracts. This degree is intended to prepare students to compete in this market. Internship is required of each student in the degree program. Internship contributes to the overall skill development which builds self-confidence, maturity, and the ability to work independently.
Computer Science: Cloud Computing and Desktop Support – The Cloud Computing and Desktop Support Program is designed for students with an interest in learning how to deliver computing services over the Internet (The Cloud). The process offers faster and flexible resources.
Desktop Support involves learning how to provide help desk support/assistance to employees or other individuals who are having issues with an IT system or the equipment both in a physical or virtual location.
Computer Science: Cybersecurity and Web Technology – The Cybersecurity and Web Technology Program is designed for students with an interest in learning how to protect critical systems and sensitive information from digital attacks. Also known as information technology (IT) security, cybersecurity measures are designed to combat threats against networked systems and applications, whether those threats originate from inside or outside of an organization.
Web Technology teaches students how computers communicate with each other using markup languages and multimedia packages. This includes web design, web development, web servers, web browsers, e-commerce, etc.
Computer Science: Networking – The Networking Program is designed for students with an interest in learning about the connection of two or more computers to share resources, provide technical support, and communicate to transmit information over physical or wireless technologies.
Computer Science: Programming and App Development – The Programming and App Development Program is designed for students with an interest in learning how to tell the computer which tasks to perform in order to solve problems.
App Development refers to learning how to plan, design, test, create, and deploy a software application to perform various operations. The created software runs on mobile devices.
The Computer Science – General / Math provides each student with a background in the principles of computing and their applications in software and systems. Students are provided real-life experience together with the development of a sound basis in theory. Students work individually and cooperatively on projects designed to foster an understanding of basic theoretical principles. Whether you plan to enter the computing industry or only to use computing as a tool for other purposes, the program prepares each student for great preparation for the future. A Certificate in Computer Science is designed to provide students with the knowledge and hands-on trainings in Computer Science. The required courses transfer to the degree program.
