The Division's mission and objectives reflect the application of Lawson State's overall mission to the field of Business. The Division specializes in providing state-of-the-art, highly marketable programs. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Division of Business and Information Technologies can train individuals in more than 300 occupations. The course offerings include numerous courses which also allow people employed in business to learn new skills or refresh existing skills. The curriculum provides students with a broad understanding of business, a competence in business computer programming, and knowledge of information technology infrastructure.
Choosing a career path in Business can lead to jobs in management, accounting, economics and more. You could become a business manager, financial analyst, work as an accountant, serve as a security analysis, be a tax consultant, become a business analyst, serve as a business manager, or run your own business, just to name a few. With business training, you can expect to develop a versatile skill set that you can transfer to different roles and industries. Depending on your area of concentration, your business pathway will transfer so you can complete your four-year degree at a college or university.

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees entail hands-on experiences and affords each student the opportunity to understand real-life experiences through internships. Because of the skills obtained in the AAS program, students are prepared to go directly into the workforce. The AAS degrees consist of 69 (Office Administration—Medical Concentration) or less hours.
The Certificate entail specific skills-based training in preparation for a specific area in Business and Information Technologies. The programs are 33 or less credit hours. Students can complete the program within one year and the certificate hours can be transferred into the degree program.
The Short Certificate gives the students the essentials of the program area's curriculum that specific skills-based training in preparation for the workforce. The programs are 28 or less credit hours. Students can complete the program within two or less semesters and the short certificate hours can be transferred into the long certificate and degree program.
