The Lawson State Community College Spring Virtual Commencement Exercises are just a few weeks away.  To assist you in this process, we have listed important information concerning our Virtual Ceremony Commencement activities.  Please follow each step below to ensure you can participate in the ceremony.

(Note:  You must have completed or enrolled in all degree requirements in order to participate in the Spring Virtual Commencement Ceremony which is being held on May 14, 2021.)


  • Cap and Gown orders are available for pick-up in the bookstore on the Birmingham campus Monday - Friday.  (See your LSCC  email for pick up times). Email Mr. Fitts, the Bookstore Manager, at 1521mgr@follett.com  if problems with pick times.
  • All students who will graduated in the spring term should check their new college email  regularly for graduation information and updates.
  • All previous students who were not able to have a physical graduation due to Covid-19 will be invited back to attend a physical graduation when Lawson goes back to a traditional ceremony......stay tuned by checking your email regularly.   Also, when the College resumes a physical graduation, all students will be invited to come back and participate in the physical commencement. (Hang on to your cap & gowns if you plan to participate in a physical ceremony)

STEP 1: Virtual Graduation Commencement Plans

  1. Cap/Gown Pick Up in Bookstore (Birmingham campus only) - Cap and Gowns are ready for pick up


    (April 5th - April 9th) 

  2. Check your LSCC and personal email, if available, for pick-up times. (1521mgr@follett.com for pick up time conflicts)

  3. Take and Submit Graduation Photo 1:  Video Photo in Cap & Gown - Check email for directions on how to take photos for ceremony  Click Link to submit photoSubmission Deadline:  April 30, 2021 by midnight - No photos will be received after deadline 

  4. Submit Graduation Photo 2 for personal Reimagined page:  Submission Deadline:  April 30, 2021 by midnight - No photos will be received after deadline -Click Link to submit photo

STEP 2:  Take Your Graduate Exit Exam.  This test cannot hurt you and will not prevent you from graduating, but it is required. Register below!

  • All graduates receiving the A.A., A.S., A.A.S. and the A.O.T. degrees are required to take the Graduate Exit Examination on April 27th, 28th and 29th.

Graduate Exam Schedule for Bessemer and Birmingham campus:    

Testing will take place in the Testing Center on both campuses.    

Testing Dates & Times (both campuses): 

Tuesday, April 27th 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday, April 28, 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, April 29, 5:00 p.m.


Bessemer Campus:  A Building, Room A-182, Assessment Center (near the Information Desk at the Student Services entrance)
Birmingham Campus:  ASC - Academic Success Center Room 220.
