This seminar is designed to introduce the student to the elements and techniques of page design and layout.  High quality publications such as newsletters, brochures, booklets, forms, and flyers will be introduced.  Materials will be provided.

How to Write a Business Plan

A Business plan is vital to a business success--regardless of the business size or scope. The Plan gives structure to your business, describes the product/services and provides and analysis of the economic viability.  This seminar covers the basics of business plan development, using formats acceptable to the SBA and other lending institutions. The mission statement, objectives, target market identification, marketing plan, management structure, and financial data will be covered.

 

 

 

How to Start a Business

This seminar takes you through the basics of getting starting with your own business. Different types of businesses will be discussed and how to obtain licenses, set up your recordkeeping, find funding, develop a marketing plan and all the necessary things you need to do when starting a business.  Upon completion of the seminar, each participant will have the basic tools needed to start a business.

 

 
 

Introduction to Copyrights, Trademarks, and Patents

Protect your intellectual property!  This workshop will provide the necessary information need to protect your business regarding copyrights, trademarks, and patents.  Some of the avenues are inexpensive and trouble-free.  Moreover, you will be provided information concerning common laws and federal laws.

Be a Webmaster!  This seminar will introduce the basics of designing a web page for your business.  The participants will actually obtain a web address and design and upload their business to the World Wide Web.  The cost of the class includes all softwares, and fees needed to register a domain for one year.  Each participant will manage their own page(s).

 

 
 

Microsoft Access Basics

This seminar will introduce participants to the following: Terminology, Components of a Database, Creating A Database, Exploring Tables, Viewing Tables, Designing and Creating Tables, The Wizard, Moving Within A Record, Moving From Record to Record, Changing A Table in Design View, Adding A Field to a Table, Renaming a Field to Your Table, Saving a Table, Setting a Data Type, Setting Field Properties, Adding Data to Tables, Deleting Data to Tables, Sorting Records, Exploring Forms, Creating a Form, and Running a Query.   

 

 
 

Microsoft Excel Basics

This seminar will introduce each participant to the following:  Terminology, Closing a Document, Creating Workbooks, Changing Columns Width, Changing Columns Height, Text, Copying Formulas, Spell Checking, Previewing Text, and Printing.

 

 
 

Microsoft PowerPoint Basics

This seminar will introduce participants to the basics of Microsoft PowerPoint.  The final product is a professional slide show introducing your business.  Animations, links, integration, images, video, digital cameras, etc. will be introduced.

This seminar will introduce each participant to the following:  Creating a New Document, Naming a Document, Saving a Document, Button Bar, Opening a Previous Create Document, Manipulating Text in a Document, Moving with the Mouse, Moving with the Arrow Keys, Moving with the Menu Bar, Selecting Text, Cutting, Moving, Pasting Text, Spell Checking Printing a Document, Formatting Characters in Word, Formatting the Document, Setting Margins, Center/Aligning Margins and Text, Setting Tabs, Changing/Removing Tabs, Bullets and Numbering, and Creating Tables.

 

 
 

How to Create A Non-Profit Business - 501C3

This seminar will assist participants in completing the necessary documents needed to obtain the status of non-profit for a business.  All forms prepared can be submitted for approval upon the completion of the seminar.

Learn how to set up efficient payroll systems and keep accurate records with Microsoft Excel.  Excel gives allows you to take control of your company's payroll, including calculating payroll, deducting federal, state and local taxes and creating checks for each employee, and ensuring you have accurate, up-to-date payroll records.

 

 
 

QuickBooks for Businesses

QuickBooks is the number one management and accounting tool utilized by start-ups and small business entrepreneurs. You will become more efficient in processing your day-to-day work after completing the workshop.  QuickBooks skills will save small businesses both time and money through the use of this software!  Topics covered will be: Processing Invoices, Applying Cash Receipts and Making Deposits, Handling Financial Reports, Preparing Bank Reconciliations, Setting Up and Editing New Customers and Vendors, Entering Manual Checks, Processing Accounts Payable, Setting Up the Company Files, etc.

The Real Estate Certificate Program offers the course work that meets the standards of professionalism in the real estate industry, and at the same time provide needed computer, communication, and math skills that will better prepare you in the field.  The program follows the guidelines set by the Alabama Real Estate Commission. 

 

The program meets the career objective of persons interested in real estate sales or other allied real estate professions. For students seeking to enter the real estate field, it offers formal education that meets the industry's goals of professionalism.

Real Estate is a booming area at the present.  People of all ages are considering real estate as a full-time or part-time career.  One can start as early as 19 years of age.  Real estate offers excellent income potential, flexible work hours, and income is gained at your pace.  The first step is being certified.  The Real Estate class takes each student through the 60 hours of instruction for pre-licensure, and at the same time prepares for the state exam.   The Alabama Real Estate Commission Examination is immediately suggested after the pre-licensure instruction.
