W. Terry Jones is the new Barbering Instructor on the East Campus but not a new instructor. Mr. Jones taught barbering on our campus at Donaldson Correctional Facility for 13 years. Mr. Jones drew from an ability to cut hair at an early age because he didn't like the method of hair cutting from the neighborhood barber on my street. He purchased a pair of clippers from a comic book, then started to practice on his friends when was about 9 or 10 yrs old. He became a barber in the U S Marine Corps in which he could only practice on Marine Recruits hair. Upon returning home, he enrolled in the Barbering program at Lawson State Community College in 1977 to become professionally licensed in the State of Alabama and the rest is history. He obtained his license in 1979 and began cutting with mentor and Assistant Dean of Vocational and Career Technical Education, Mr.Donald Sledge, for the last 35 years.
Mrs. Pier M. Wilkerson has taught barbering for 16 years and also serves as the Department Chair of Service Careers within the Occupational and Career Technical Educational Division. She continued pursuing higher education at Athens State University and Alabama A&M University in Career Technical Education.
