Meet the Faculty


Kevin Hitchcock is the Instructor for the Building Construction and Construction Management Program at Lawson State Community College. He started teaching at LSCC in 2005. He started his career in construction as an apprentice timber-frame carpenter in 1982. Kevin has also worked in residential construction and remodeling, public works and in the oil and gas industry. He has an Associates of Applied Science in Building Construction (Bessemer State Technical College), a Bachelor of Science in Geology (UAB) and a Masters of Engineering in Construction (UAB). Kevin is a member of the National Association of Homebuilders, has served as a Board Member for the Greater Birmingham Association of Homebuilders, and as Chair of the Green Building Coalition. He serves as an advisor for the Alabama Construction Recruiting Institute. In 2009, Kevin became a Certified Green Professional with the NAHB and in 2012 he became an OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer. Kevin was selected as a Scholar for the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Landmarks in American Heritage and Culture Program – Black Mountain College, held in Asheville, N.C. in 2011.
