The Barbering and Cosmetology programs at Lawson State Community College are designed to provide students with a thorough knowledge of the Hair Industry. Our in depth level of instruction includes, but is not limited to, both theory and practical experiences in all phases of hair cutting, and styling, scalp treatments, esthetics, nail technology and chemical services. Professional in the field will agree that there is always something new to learn which makes Cosmetology and Barbering exciting and rewarding career choices. There are many opportunities in this industry for the well-trained individual due to its high demand in communities it serves.

Classes are offered year round with both day and evening classes.
Students earn Certificate upon completion of the Programs.
Students enrolled full-time may complete in as little as 3 semesters.
Barber program graduates must become licensed by The Barbering Board Commission of Jefferson County in order to practice in Jefferson County.
Students graduating from Cosmetology must become licensed by The Alabama State Board of Cosmetology in order to practice in The State of Alabama.
