Distance Learning students have access to the library’s collection through the online public access catalog “Athena”. Students may search the collections of both campus libraries by keyword or visual searches. Electronic books may be accessed using the advanced search mode of the Athena catalog. There is a time limit for electronic book searches. The library staff has developed a self-paced library tutorial which assists students in locating, accessing and using information in the library. It also discusses policies and procedures and gives a brief orientation to the library. Full text articles and magazines are available to distance learning students through electronic databases such as the Alabama Virtual Library, Proquest Magazines and Newspapers, Proquest Nursing Magazines and Mitchell on-Demand. Remote access is available for all library databases; however, a user ID and password are required for off-campus use. Passwords and user ID’s are available at the Circulation Desk.
