Employee Leave

Eligible Employees are entitled to "leave with pay" and "leave without pay" based on State Board Policy 610.01 and 611.01. 

Reporting Leave Requirement: 

It is the policy of Lawson State Community College that all employees eligible to receive leave benefits MUST report their leave (online) accurately and faithfully.  Failure to submit leave and be unaccountable at work is a violation of policy and standard ethics practices.

Approval of Leave:

All types of leave, except sick leave, to include personal, professional and annual should be pre-approved by the employees direct supervisor and notification of leave should be submitted prior to the leave being taken.  It is never appropriate to submit a request for leave, after an employee has already taken the leave.  Sick Leave:  If sick and requesting leave for an extended period of time, supervisors and Human Resources officials may require the employee to submit a medical excuse.

Employees shall be allowed the following official holidays on which days the institution shall be closed:
New Year’s Day
Martin Luther King, Jr.  Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
The day after Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
5 Additional days locally assigned (refer to College's Academic Calendar)
