Admission

Enrollment in non-credit, individual skills training courses and customized training course generally do not require a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). Many of the technical course identified in the Lawson State Community College catalog can be offered as short term, skill specific training modules.

Below are the non-credit offerings for 2017-2018. The classes listed below are designed to allow the student to learn a specific skill set in a relatively short period of time. Please check back often as we will update the offerings each semester.

Manufacturing

Automated manufacturing is one of the fastest growing industries in the southeast.  Companies producing intermediate components and finished goods locate near each other in industrial parks, because of easier access to recent manufacturing innovations and just in time inventory for the automotive industry.  Today’s manufacturers use automated manufacturing processes which include sensors, programmable logic controls, robotics, fluid power and process controls.

The clerical program prepares students with the basic skills necessary to work in a clerical position.  Students will learn computer software, and keyboarding skills.

Culinary                                $2500 – 5 Days

Chefs, cooks, and food preparation workers prepare, season, and cook a wide range of foods – from soups, snacks, and salads to entrees, side dishes, and desserts – in a variety of restaurants and other food service establishments.  Chefs and cooks create recipes and prepare meals, while food preparation workers peel and cut vegetables, trim meat, prepare poultry, and perform other duties such as monitoring temperatures of ovens and stovetops.
