MISSION:  The Athletic Department of Lawson State Community College is dedicated and committed to the academic, athletic, and social growth of each student athlete.  Through educational ideals learned both on and off the field of play, the Department strives to instill in student athletes the benefits of competition, sportsmanship, hard work, commitment, and teamwork.  Through recruiting and promotion of Lawson State Community College and its athletic teams, the finest student athletes are selected from surrounding communities.  This allows for direct reflection and pursuit of intellectual, emotional, physical and ethical goals of both the Athletic Department and the College. 

 

Throughout Lawson State's first 50 years, finding the proper balance between academics and athletics has been a great challenge.  Lawson State has a history of winning teams and strong community support for athletics.  The athletic program is part of the total educational program, and therefore, its mission and goals are interwoven into the mission and goals of the College.  Presently, Lawson State offers three sports:  (1) Men Baseball (Schedule), (2) Men Basketball (Schedule), (3) Women Basketball (Schedule), and (3) Volleyball (Schedule).
