2017 LAWSON STATE LADY COUGARS 
VOLLEYBALL 


The Lady Cougars are looking to return strong for the 2017 Volleyball Season

The Lawson State Volleyball team is excited to continue to build on their improved season in 2016.  The Lady Cougars will have all six sophomores returning for this 2016 season with an added sophomore transfer Taylor Dowdell.  Returners include Celeste Hall (DS), Eshae Aska (S), Kiara Mayo (MH), Jasmine Wright (RH), Artasia Debose (OH) and Latrice Reynolds (MH).

Coach Aubrey Wiley and previous assistant coach Maegan Lo Porto worked hard in the off season to recruit and land 9 top players to complete their 2017 roster.  Freshman coming in have not only a lot of talent on the court, but strength in the classroom as well.  These players include: Jasmine Fowler, Erin Test, Sydni Bolden, Sarah Warren, Aja Amison, Princes Embry, Andrea Drake & Jazmine Green. Recruits are represented by many high schools including: Hoover, Chelsea, Coosa Valley, Thompson, Center Point, Huffman and Ramsay.

Along with the new recruits, Jamie Gill, has joined the Lawson State volleyball program as the new assistant coach. Gill, head volleyball coach at Coosa Valley Academy, led her team to a State Championship & undefeated season in 2016. Gill has over 11 years of coaching experience & played collegiately in Florida for four seasons.

The Lady Cougars have a tough schedule this season and start it off on Saturday August 26th as they play in the Wallace State Selma tournament in Selma, AL.  Their first home match will be on Tuesday night, August 29th at 6pm against Andrew College.  Please come out and support your Lady Cougar Volleyball Team this season!
