Lady Cougars Basketball

The 2013-2014 Lawson State Lady Cougars are excited about the upcoming season. They are looking to improve on last year’s 19-9 season that ended in the semi-finals of the Conference tournament. The Lady Cougars participated in two early preseason jamboree tournaments to prepare for the regular season. The LSCC squad has a handful of returners to mix with a talented group of freshmen. Returning for the Lady Cougars are sophomores Tianna Hill (Birmingham, AL), Jamarra Taylor (Bessemer, AL), Destini Kindred (Birmingham, AL), Kari Jones (Birmingham, AL), and Rickeytha Davis (Birmingham, AL). Transfers from Enterprise State College, Rickeya Walker (Birmingham, AL) and Tiarta Smith (Birmingham, AL), round out a solid sophomore class that will be looked upon for veteran leadership. The Lady Cougar freshmen class includes Tuscaloosa natives Toborsha Holley (Central HS) and Kendra Conner (Tuscaloosa County HS), and local talents Ashley McCrear (Woodlawn HS), Maya Hoyle Brown (Carver HS, Stillman College), Brianna Hubbard (Wenonah HS), Brittney Terry (Minor HS), and Kenya Billingsley (Bibb County).

This year's team has been putting in maximum effort during the preseason both on and off the court. This group of young ladies is expected to represent Lawson State well this season with their competitiveness and exciting style of play. The Lady Cougars open up the season Saturday, November 2, at Wallace Selma.
