Baseball Head Coach

Doug Kovash

Doug Kovash enters his first season as head coach of Lawson State Community College.  He brings over twenty-six years of college coaching experience to Lawson State.  As a head coach his overall record is 415-375-2 with majority of his wins coming while he was head coach at Presbyterian College. Coach Kovash graduated for Concordia College in Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Miami University. During his playing days as a pitcher he earned First-Team All Minnesota and All Region honorable mention. During his coaching tenure he has guided many of his programs to national rankings, academic honors, and professional careers for his players.

 

Assistant Baseball Coach
Robert "Gil" Walker

Gil Walker is serving his first season as the Assistant Baseball Coach and recruiting coordinator for Lawson State Community College.  He graduated from Wallace State Hanceville Community College and continued his education at Samford University where he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Sports Administration.  He began his baseball career at Wallace- Hanceville as a pitcher/catcher.  After two years at Wallace-Hanceville, he received a scholarship to play for Samford University.  During his playing days he helped Samford baseball program win its first ever Southern Conference Title and made an appearance on the mound against Florida State in the 2012 Tallahassee Regional.
