Blake Lewis is entering his sixth season as Head Coach. He has served three coaching stints with the baseball program. One under former head coach Barry Dean (2009) and three as the head baseball coach (2010-2012). He demonstrates inspiring coaching abilities, which are enhanced by his professional experience as a player and recruiter. When Blake was on staff several years back (2009-2012), the program had several record breaking seasons, and was ranked nationally under his leadership. As a leader, he will help our student-athletes become better men, better students and better players. Assistant baseball Coach Josh Cagle has done an outstanding job maintaining continuity throughout this transition. Lewis has coached over 20 All-Conference players, 5 All-Americans, and 7 players that went on to play professionally. Recently he completed his second season as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Montevallo baseball program in 2014. Lewis has been part of a coaching staff that guided Montevallo to back-to-back 30 win seasons and a pair of appearances in the Peach Belt Conference tournament championship game. Lewis also helped Coach Wil Fulmer, a 22nd round selection by the New York Mets in the 2014 Major League Draft. Lewis also helped Devon Davis, and undrafted free agent signee by the Chicago White Sox, and Michael Shreves, who signed a contract with the Laredo Lemurs in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, in the past two season. Lewis served as the Montevallo’s third base coach in 2013 guiding Montevallo base runners to 101 stolen bases during the season. Lewis was a graduate assistant at the University of West Alabama for two seasons (2006-2008). In those two seasons he helped the teams to an 86-30 record and a Gulf South Conference East divisional title in 2007. Lewis played at Montevallo for two seasons (2004-2005). His senior year the team finished with a 36-22 record and he was third on the team in batting average with a .325 clip. He led the team with 21 stolen bases and was third with 35 RBI. He helped the team to a GSC tournament that season. A native of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, Lewis is a 2006 graduate of the University of Montevallo with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. He earned is graduate degree in 2008 from the University of West Alabama. Lewis is married to wife, Amanda, and they have two sons Fischer and Griffin.
