Standard 3.4.11
For
each major in a degree program, the institution assigns responsibility for
program coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to
persons academically qualified in the field. In those degree programs for which
the institution does not identify a major, this requirement applies to a
curricular area or concentration. (Academic program coordination)
Non-Compliance
Responsibility
for program coordination and curriculum development and review is assigned to
the following officers: department chairs, program directors, associate deans,
assistant deans, and academic deans. A review of the roster of these academic
officers and respective credentials provides specific examples of their
qualifications. However, the Off-Site Review Committee was unable to confirm
appropriate qualifications for the individuals filling the following positions:

Chair – Social and Behavior Sciences
•
Associate Dean - Business and Information Technologies
•
Assistant Dean – Occupational Programs
•
Chair- Natural Science and Mathematics Dept
Response:
At Lawson State
Community College, academic program coordination is the responsibility of
Department Chairpersons, Program Directors, Associate and Assistant Deans and
the Academic Dean (LSCC Instructional Service
Organization Chart). Overall coordination for
Academic Programs is the responsibility of the Vice President for
Instructional Services Dr. Bruce Crawford (Resume and Job Description). He is assisted with the day-to-day
coordination by an Academic Dean Dr. Sherri Davis (Resume and Job Description).
Academic Programs are further supported by the Dean of Educational Support
Services Dr. Randy Glaze (Resume
and Job
Description) (Roster of Academic Officers and
Qualifications).
Specific academic
programs at the College are organized into four major areas—General
Studies/College Transfer, Health Professions, Business and Information
Technologies and Career Technical Programs.
Each is under the supervision of a qualified Associate Dean or Assistant
