For each major in a
degree program, the institution assigns responsibility for program
coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to persons
academically qualified in the field. In
those degree programs for which the institution does not identify a major, this
requirement applies to a curricular area or concentration. (Academic program coordination)

Narrative:
At Lawson State
Community College, academic program coordination is the responsibility of
department chairpersons, program directors, Associate and Assistant Deans and
the Academic Dean. (LSCC Instructional
Service Organization Chart) Overall coordination for the academic program is the
responsibility of the Vice President for Instructional Services (Dr. Bruce Crawford
resume and Job Description). He is assisted with the
day-to-day coordination by an Academic Dean (Dr. Sherri Davis
resume and Job
Description). Specific academic programs at the College are
organized into four major areas—General Studies/College Transfer, Health
Professions, Business and Information Technologies and Career Technical
Programs. Each is under the supervision
of a qualified associate or assistant dean (Dr. Karl Pruitt, Dr. Sheila Marable, Dr. Charles Murray, and Mr. Donald Sledge). The associate deans work
with department chairpersons (Mr. Tom Berryman, Ms. Vyavuka
MasiMasi, Mrs. Teheitha
Taylor Murray, Ms. Eleanor Pitts, Mrs. Sharon Romine, Mrs. Pier
Wilkerson, Mrs. Nancy Wilson) and program directors (Dr. Charles
Fowler), each all academically
qualified in their field of teaching assignment to perform the duties of
program coordination, curriculum development and review. (Associate Dean

Chairpersons and Program Directors).
College personnel who
have the responsibility of academic program coordination, including curriculum
development and curriculum review are qualified to perform their duties. Each meets the requirements of the Alabama
