Narrative:

Lawson State Community College demonstrates compliance by providing evidence that it follows policies and procedures for the appointment and employment of faculty and staff. The Alabama State Board of Education in policy 204.01 (Policy 204.01) authorizes the President to appoint all faculty and staff at the local level. The President is directed to inform the Chancellor of the name and provide the curriculum vitae of all dean-level administrators whom the President intends to appoint at the institution. Additionally, Alabama State Board of Education policy 207.01 (Policy 207.01): Position Announcements: Professional Faculty or Staff) requires Presidents to forward to the Department of Postsecondary Education a copy of each announcement for each professional faculty or staff (Graphic Design Instructor Position) (Recruiter Position) (Position Vacancies) and dictates that a statement appear on the position announcements distributed by the institution indicating specific wording about non-exclusion and nondiscrimination.

Board policy 602.02: Hiring Practices and Procedures (Policy 602.02) requires that vacancies in presidential, full-time faculty, and other full-time administrative and supervisory positions, regardless of the salary schedule, shall be filled according to the practices and procedures set out in The Alabama College System (Uniform Guidelines).  Job openings are posted in accordance with State Board policy and directives. All Lawson State Community College job announcements are posted electronically on the College’s website (LSCC Personnel Job listing). All pertinent forms are found also on the website. All Alabama State Board of Education policies regarding faculty and staff appointments are found in the Faculty/Staff Handbook-Hiring Practices Sections and are inclusive of those from the Alabama State Board of Education. When an individual is offered employment by the College, an official letter notifying him/her of employment and the starting date is issued.(Appointment Letter for Staff and Faculty)
