Narrative:

Institutional policy, including policies concerning related and affiliated corporate entities and all auxiliary services: and The Alabama State Board of Education (Policy 210.01) is responsible for the development and adoption of policy for the governance of the Alabama Community College System.  All policies are published on the website for the Alabama Community College System.  The President of each institution is responsible for developing local policies governing the institution.  Those local policies must be in accord with established State Board of Education policies, Chancellor’s regulations, federal and state statutes, and appropriate judicial directions. 

Lawson State Community College publishes its associated local policies in the Faculty and Staff Handbook and on the College’s intranet (Faculty and Staff Handbook). Lawson State does not have affiliated corporate entities.  Alabama State Board of Education, Auxiliary Services (Policy 320.01) states that the institution is authorized to operate or to contract for food services, vending services, bookstores, student housing and other self-supporting activities as a service to, and incidental to, the instructional program of the institution.  These activities will be operated on a self-sustaining basis. 

The College clearly delineates and communicates responsibility for administrative control of the operations of all auxiliary enterprises in its organizational chart (LSCC Organizational Chart) and job description.  The financial control of auxiliary enterprises follows standard institutional procedures in the Business Office in accordance with state rules and regulations and the Lawson State Community College Business Office Procedures Manual (Auxiliary Services Policy).
