The institution provides instruction for all course work required
for at least one degree program at each level at which it awards degrees. If the institution does not provide
instruction for all such course work and (1) makes arrangements for some
instruction to be provided by other accredited institutions or entities through
contracts or consortia or (2) uses some other alternative approach to meeting
this requirement, the alternative approach must be approved by the Commission on
Colleges. In both cases, the institution

Lawson State Community
College provides instruction for all coursework required for all degree
programs at each level at which awards are offered. The College offers degrees
with awards of Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, Associate in Applied
Science, and Associate in Occupational Technology and certificates in
occupationally specific areas upon completion of the required coursework in and
attainment of specific learner outcomes in the areas of Liberal Arts and
Sciences (College Transfer) programs, Career Technical and Occupational programs,
Business and Information Technology, and Health Professions (Business Technologies,
Career and Technical, Liberal Arts, Health Professions). The College controls all aspects of its educational program as
evidenced by the appointment of academic officers (Academic
Officers) and the Curriculum
Committee (Curriculum
Committee Members) both of which provide
oversight to the academic arena including degree programs, student learner
outcomes, assessment. The Curriculum
Committee approves any new courses or programs prior to implementation (Committee
Minutes).
Liberal Arts and College
Transfer programs provide coursework in Mathematics, Biology, Pre-engineering,
Pre-nursing, Art, English, General Studies, Music, History, Political Science,
Pre-law, Social Work Technician, Teacher Education, Health and Physical
Education, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development/Early Childhood Education
and Criminal Justice (Courses of Study for Liberal Arts.) Health Profession programs provides coursework in Nursing
Education, General Generic Programs, Mobility Program, Practical Nursing,
Dental Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Home Health Aide, and Nurse
Assistant (Course of Study for Health
Professions.)
Career, Technical, and
Occupational programs provide coursework in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration,
Automotive Body Repair, Automotive, Mechanics, Automotive Service (Ford, GM,
& Toyota), Aviation Maintenance, Barbering, Building Construction, Cabinet
Building, Carpentry, Commercial Arts & Illustration, Commercial Food
Service, Cosmetology, Diesel Mechanics, Drafting and Design, Electrical

Lawson State does not have
contractual agreements for instruction. It controls all aspects of its
educational program and provides instruction for all coursework required for
each program.
