As a part of that process the college has 8 goal statements (Goal Statements) and 5 institution-wide student learning outcomes (Learning Outcomes) that demonstrate that the college provides degree programs that are compatible with its mission. The mission specifically states that the college will “provide accessible quality educational opportunities, promote economic growth and enhance the quality of life for people in its service area. The College is dedicated to providing affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities in order to prepare students for employment or career advancement, enable students to transfer to senior colleges and universities, and provide customized training needs for business and industry.” Each academic and administrative and educational support unit develops goals and where appropriate student learning outcomes that also facilitate degree program compatibility with the mission statement. (Unit Plans)
The Alabama State Board of Education and The Alabama Commission on Higher Education approved the programs of study thereby indicating appropriateness to higher education (Program Inventory).
The College’s general education courses for the Associate degrees are approved by the Articulation and General Studies Committee (AGSC) and are part of the Statewide Transfer and Articulation Reporting System (STARS) for transfer to two- and four-year institutions. (Alabama STARS).
