Narrative:
As president, Dr. Perry W. Ward, is the chief
executive officer of Lawson State Community College and is accountable to the
Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System for the day-to-day operation
of the institution (Policy
102.04 and Policy 203.02). His initial date of
employment by the Alabama State Board of Education was June 22, 1987 (President's Employment Notification).
The president’s job description (President's Job Description) outlines his duties and responsibilities and demonstrates that his
primary responsibility is to Lawson State Community College. He is employed by
the Alabama State Board of Education upon recommendation by the Chancellor (Policy 203.01). Dr. Ward is not a member of the Alabama State Board of Education
nor is he the presiding officer (Board Members). The governor serves as the presiding officer of the board (Policy 101.04).
