For Immediate Release                                                  Monday, April 3, 2006

Earth Day is April 22 and TechBirmingham plans its second major ECYCLING DAY.   Last year’s event yielded 75 tons of equipment being diverted from Alabama’s landfills.

The Bessemer Campus of Lawson State will be a designated site for public drop-off on Saturday, April 22 from 9a – 4p.  (The Birmingham campus was not selected because Miles College is participating this year.)  Electronic equipment in any condition (working, damaged, outdated) can be donated.

THIS PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNE TIME TO SAFELY AND PROPERLY DISPOSE OF UNNEEDED, UNWANTED OR UNUSED COMPUTER AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WITHOUT A COST TO THE COLLEGE.

Items include:

  • Desktop computers
  • Laptop computers
  • Computer monitors
  • Mainframes/Midranges
  • Keyboards and input devices
  • Printers and Scanners
  • Fax machines and Copy machines
  • Digital cameras
  • PDAs and handheld devices
  • Video game systems
  • Printer cartridges
  • Call phones

Absolutely no televisions or “white goods” (kitchen appliances, microwaves, etc.) can be accepted.  For full details, check the www.EcyclingDay.org website.
