C o n g r a t s    LaToya!!!

 Ms. LaToya Floyd, Winner of the 2009 Magic City Classic Scholarship ($1,000)
   

 Congratulations goes out to Ms. LaToya Floyd, the winner of the 2009 $1000 Magic City Classic Scholarship.  Ms. Floyd is a student in the Business and Information Technologies Department at Lawson State.  Her topic submitted was:  “With the Student Drop-Out Rate on All Time High, As A Student Leader, What Ways Can You Help the Younger Generation Understand the Importance and Value of an Education".

Her major is Business Education.  She has a 4.00 GPA and is currently the assistant secretary of  Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) and a member of TRIO (Student Support Services).  In addition, LaToya is also a member of the honorary organizations Kappa Beta Delta (Business) and Phi Theta Kappa (International).  Her community involvement includes(ed) Habitant Homes, Wal-Mart March of Dimes for Babies, Son Light Center Women and Children Shelter/Son Light Thrift Store, Bread of Life Food Drive/Soup Kitchen, and Red Cross-Hurricane Katrina.

After graduating from Lawson State, LaToya plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham or Tuscaloosa and receive a B.S. and master degree in Health Care Management.  She plans to continually give back to her community.  We wish you much success!!
