officially became a Police Department through the State of
Alabama on May 14, 1996.
We are now a multi-campus

Birmingham and Bessemer.
Under the direction of the
Chief of Police, Walter Williams, Jr. and his staff that
consists of sworn Police Officers and non-sworn Security

become one of the safest campuses in the two-year college
system.
Working and training with
Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement agencies, the
Lawson State Police Department continues to maintain a safe
and secure environment for its administration, faculty,
staff, students, and visitors.
Our Police
Department staff consisting of men and women is committed to
serve the Lawson State Community in a highly professional,
effective, and caring manner.
We will continue our level of
excellent service and keeping in mind that we are “one
