Miss Lawson State Community College Crowned

BIRMINGHAM, AL - November 2, 2009 – Beauty and retrospect set the vibe for the Miss Lawson State Coronation that took place on Thursday, October 22, in the gymnasium of the Arthur Shores Fine Arts Building at Lawson State Community College where, Miss Devon Patterson Miss Lawson State 2008, passed the crown to London Hammondez, now reigning queen.

A native of Birmingham, London is a twenty year old English major with a GPA of 3.50. Miss Hammondez serves as Ambassador Vice President and is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Government Association. Her goals include obtaining a Ph.D. in English from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and pursuing a career in American Literature Education. In her spare time, London enjoys reading, blogging and loves volunteering with Breast Cancer Association. Her motto is “When one door closes, an even better door opens.”

The theme for the event was “Sharing Our Record of 60 Years.” The court and departmental representatives, all outfitted in various beautiful gowns and tuxedos, swept the audience away in a blissful and captivating evening. And as is tradition, after the new queen and President Perry Ward’s the first dance, the Ball began.
