Compass Placement Assessment Information
-
Unless exempt, first term, first time students must take the Compass
placement assessment or use valid ACT scores for placement.
This information is used to place you into the appropriate level of
math, reading, and English courses.
-
Your ACT scores may be on file either because you requested they be
sent to our office from ACT or because they appear on your official
high school transcript.
-
You have the option of taking the Compass assessment instead of
having your ACT scores used for course placement. We will use
ACT scores whenever they are available unless otherwise directed by
you.
-
If you transfer equivalent math, reading, and / or English courses
as required by your curriculum, you do not need to take the Compass
Placement assessment. (See
Exemptions)
-
Unless exempt, or unless you transfer these courses, you must be
placed by your Compass scores or ACT scores BEFORE you may register.
-
The ACT option saves time and enables you to register for classes
more quickly. Call Admissions if you need more information or
to determine if we possess your valid ACT scores.
